First, Gather Your Ingredients:
- 2 Cans Green Beans
- 1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup (Roasted Garlic variety can add some flavor)
- 1 bag/package of French Fried Onions (You’ll need about 2 cups)
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
Second, Prepare Your Mix:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine Green Beans, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Milk, 3/4 of the French Fried Onions (with 1/4 set aside for the topping), and Pepper. Don’t mix too much, or you might smash the Green Beans.
Once the mixture is nicely combined, pour into a prepared casserole dish. 8 x 8 should be fine. If you’ve doubled the recipe, be sure and accommodate by using a larger dish for baking, or the mixture will bubble over.
Place the casserole into the oven for 40 minutes. When you still have ten minutes of baking time, pull the mixture out and sprinkle the remaining French Fried Onions on top.
Return to the oven for the remaining ten minutes. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Casserole Variations:
By adding different components, you may easily alter the flavor of your casserole. For a creamier dish, substitute half & half or heavy cream for the milk.
Use skim milk and low-sodium Cream of Mushroom soup for a healthier alternative. French Fried Onions are also available in a variety of flavors. Use the “Ranch” taste if you’re feeling brave.
Use the “Cheddar Cheese” taste if you’re in the mood for something cheesy. Experiment by adjusting one ingredient at a time, and you’ll soon have another one-of-a-kind casserole that your family adores.
Reheating Tip
If your family eats leftovers, simply sprinkle some fresh French Fried Onions on top of the casserole and put it in the oven until it is reheated and the topping onions are crunchy.
